When purchasing a storage container, it's important to understand the different categories of containers available. With this knowledge you'll be able to choose the best container for your needs.
We offer three categories of containers based primarily on age and condition. Newer units generally cost more than older ones. The three types of containers are described in detail below.
Wind and Water Tight (WWT) Storage Containers — B Grade
Wind and water tight storage containers, sometimes called "B grade" containers, are the most affordable option. These containers have previously been used in cargo transport but are generally no longer suitable for this purpose.
The main advantage? Price.
These containers are the most affordable option.
WWT sale containers are:
- Typically 15 years old or more
- Often labeled with shipping line logos
- Come in a variety of colors
- Frequently rusted and dented from heavy use
IICL Shipping / Storage Containers — A Grade
IICL stands for the Institute of International Container Lessors. IICL shipping / storage containers, sometimes called "A grade" containers, must meet standards based on inspection criteria set by the IICL. IICL containers are in good condition and are suitable for both shipping and storage.
The main advantage? Value.
For relatively little extra cost, IICL containers are typically in better condition
than WWT containers.
IICL sale containers are:
- Typically 8 to 10 years old
- Generally in better condition than WWT containers
- Somewhat worn-looking with minor rust, dents and dings

One Trip Shipping / Storage Containers — A Grade
One trip shipping / storage containers are manufactured overseas and have been transported to Canada carrying a single load of cargo. These containers are typically in excellent, "like new" condition.
The main advantage?
Longevity and Visual Appeal.
These containers will last for years and have great curb appeal: they look a lot
better than the typical IICL or WWT container.
One trip sale containers are:
- Clean inside and out
- Free of shipping labels
- Fitted with a security lock box for convenient portable storage
- Available in a variety of colours, most typically beige, gray or blue
